Vicent Pla received his M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunication engineering from Universitat Politécnica de Valéncia (UPV), Valencia, Spain. He received the 1999 third National Award for Academic Excellence in the degree of telecommunication engineering, and the 2006 Universitat Politécnica de Valéncia Ph.D. Award. In December 1999, he joined the Department of Communications at the UPV, where he is currently an Associate Professor. During the summer of 1999, he was a visiting Ph.D. student in the Multimedia and Networking Lab at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He was a visiting scholar in the Department of Communications and Networking at the Helsinki University of Technology, Finland (from August to October 2006), and at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Manitoba, Canada (from January to August 2012). His research interests lie primarily in the area of mathematical modeling and performance analysis of communication networks. During the past years, most of his research activity has focused on resource management in wireless networks. In these areas he has published numerous papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings. He has also been an active participant in several national and European research projects.
