Carlo S. Regazzoni
University of Genoa, Italy
Carlo Regazzoni obtained the Laurea degree and the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications and signal processing in 1987 and in 1992, respectively. He is a Full Professor of telecommunications systems at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Genova since 2005. Dr. Regazzoni is involved in research on signal and video processing and data fusion in cognitive telecommunication systems since 1988. His main current research interests are bioinspired signal and video processing and recognition, distributed data fusion, signal processing for wireless communications and localization, ambient intelligence, cognitive radio, multimodal intelligent interfaces, and pervasive adaptation in embodied cognitive systems. Since 1998, he is responsible for the Video and Signal Processing for Telecommunications Research Group (ISIP40, http://www.isip40.it) at the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering (DIBE), within the Engineering Faculty of UniGE. Intelligent distributed video surveillance and wireless mobile communications/interaction systems are the main focus of applications studied in this group. Regazzoni has been responsible for the DIBE in several research and development projects. Moreover, he is responsible for the Joint Research Laboratories with Technoaware (A2lab /Ambient Awareness Lab), Telecom Italia, and Selex Communications and for the Cognitive Radio Laboratory (CorLab) at DIBE. He was a Founder of the International Conference on Advanced Signal and Video-Based Surveillance Systems, IEEE AVSS. He serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing and for the International Journal on Image and Graphics. He has been a guest editor of many special issues on different international journals. He has been a coeditor of 4 edited books (Kluwer) on intelligent video surveillance. Dr. Regazzoni is an author or coauthor of 70 papers on international scientific journals and of more than 200 papers presented at peer-reviewed international conferences.
