Beth A. Schrope
Beth A. Schrope holds M.D., Ph.D., and F.A.C.S. degrees. She joined the faculty of the Department of Surgery in July of 2001 as a Clinical Instructor after completing her residency with New York Presbyterian Hospital. She assumed her current position as Assistant Professor in July of 2002. She is the Director of the Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. She graduated with an M.D. degree from Temple University in 1996. Prior to joining the profession of medicine, she completed a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering at Drexel University in 1992 and won numerous federal grants as principle investigator for research work in medical ultrasound. At the moment, her clinical areas of interest include bariatric surgery and surgery of the pancreas and biliary tract as well as surgical ultrasound. Her research interests include novel applications of autologous pancreatic islet cell transplantation and bariatric surgery outcomes research. Dr. Schrope is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
