Salem Omar

Associate Professor Dr. Salem Omar received his MBBS degree from University of Malaya in 1993 and obtained Masters of Internal Medicine in 1999 from the same university. Dr. Salem did an advanced fellowship in therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound at University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany under the guidance of Professor dr. med Nib Soehendra and Professor dr. med. Stefan Seewald from 2002 to 2006. Dr. Salem is currently the Associate Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at University Malaya Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His area of expertise is therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy with subspecialization in therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound. His interest is EUS-guided ablation therapy for irresectable pancreatic cancer. He is currently an editorial board member of Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Research (GHR) and was the Lead Guest Editor for Special Issue on Endoscopic Ultrasound for Gastroenterology Research and Practice (GRP).
