Mário Tanomaru-Filho was born in São Paulo State, Brazil, in 1966. He received the Dentistry degree in 1987, and an M.S. degree at the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1992. The Ph.D. degree from São Paulo State University (UNESP), São Paulo, Brazil, was obtained in 1996, and he became an Associate Professor in 2001. Since 1992, Tanomaru-Filho serves as a Professor of Endodontics in Araraquara Dental School, São Paulo State University, Brazil. Starting from 1997, he works a Professor in the Graduated program in Dentistry from the Araraquara Dental School. From 1998 till now, he worked as a Researcher at the Brazilian National Agency (CNPq, Brazil). Presently, he serves as a Professor in Undergraduated and Graduated programs of Araraquara Dental School, São Paulo, Brazil. In addition, he is mainly interested in endodontics: root canal filling materials, microbiology, radiology, endodontic surgery, and periapical periodontitis. Furthermore, he has published articles in several periodicals from Dentistry, with emphasis on endodontics. He is affiliated to the International Association of Dental Research and Brazilian Division of Dental Research.
