Mato Knez

Mato Knez was born in Augsburg, Germany in 1971. He studied chemistry at the University of Ulm, Germany, where he received his Diploma degree in 1999. He performed graduate studies at the Max-Planck-Institute of Solid State Research in Stuttgart and received his Doctoral degree from the University of Ulm in 2003. After a postdoctoral research at the Max-Planck-Institute of microstructure physics in Halle, he became a Research Group Leader at the same institution in 2006 after he received the NanoFutur Award and funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for establishing a research group. His research interests include atomic layer deposition (ALD), nanoscience and -technology and inorganic-(bio)organic hybrid materials and their physical properties. He is the initiator of the German ALD Meetings (GerALD) and a Member of the Technical Committee of the Past International Topical ALD Conferences of the American Vacuum Society (AVS). He was the Cochair of the Baltic ALD conference 2010 and organized symposia for the Materials Research Society in 2010 and 2011 (to come).
