Gianluca Serafini was born in Avezzano (L’Aquila), Italy, in 1978. He took his degree in medicine and surgery at Sapienza University of Rome, becoming later psychiatrist. In 2012, he obtained his Ph.D. degree in Psychiatry: Early Interventions in Psychosis. From over ten years ago, he worked as clinician and researcher at Sant’Andrea Hospital in Rome, whereas from 2007 he is an active member of the Center for Suicide Prevention. His major research interests include neurobiology of major affective disorders and suicide, neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and psychopharmacology. He has been included in “2010 Marquis Who’s Who in the World,” “2011 Marquis Who’s Who in the World,” and “2012 Marquis Who’s Who in the World,” and he is a Fellow of several scientific societies (International Association for Suicide Prevention, Sociedad Española De Patologí a Dual, European Psychiatric Association, International Society for Affective Disorders, New York Academy of Sciences, Associazione Italiana Lotta allo Stigma). He is an active researcher being the author of more than 100 publications in scientific journals (author of more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed international and national journals, author of approximately 40 book chapters, author of more than 20 abstracts/posters in peer-reviewed international journals). From 2007 he was a speaker in more than 85 national and international conferences, and he is currently an Associate Editor of 2 international journals. He actually worked as a reviewer for over 30 peer-reviewed international journals, he is an Active Editorial Board Member of 6 international journals, and he has been also included in the advisory board of 2 international journals.
