Marc Wuilpart received his degree in electrical engineering from the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, Mons, Belgium in 1999; and his Ph.D. degree in applied science from the same university in 2003. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Electromagnetism and Telecommunication Department, at the University of Mons. His research activities concern optical fibre metrology, consisting in developing new measurement techniques to determine the fundamental parameters characterizing optical fibres in the frame of telecommunications and sensing applications. In particular, he is interested in distributed measurement systems (e.g. OTDR, OFDR, and POTDR) and in the characterisation of polarization effects in optical fibres. His research activities have led him to be the author and the co-author of 3 book chapters, about 100 journal and conference papers, and 2 patent applications. Wuilpart has worked as the Chairman of a Working Group of the COST 299 Action FIDES. He is also a Board Member of the IEEE Photonics Society Benelux Chapter.
