Gabriel J. Tobón

Gabriel Tobón obtained his M.D. degree from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellin, Colombia, in 2003. He also obtained his M.S. degree in genetic, genomic, and biotechnology and Ph.D. degree in immunorheumatology from Universite de Bretagne Occidentale, Brest, France, in 2009 and 2012, respectively. He serves as the head of the immunorheumatology laboratory at the Fundacion Valle del Lili in Cali-Colombia and the ICESI University Medical School. He is a rheumatologist with special interest in the immunological mechanisms of chronic autoimmune diseases such as Systemic Lupus and primary Sjõgren's syndrome. His research has been focused on B-cell abnormalities and cytokines mediating autoreactive B-cell survival.
