Zhihong Yang holds an M.D. degree. He studied medicine and graduated from Wuhan Tongji-Medical University in China in 1986. From 1988 to 1991, he had his postgraduate cardiovascular research training in the research group of Dr. Thomas F. Lüscher at the Department of Research, University Hospital Basel, Switzerland, where he did his doctoral thesis. He then worked as Research Assistant and Senior Research Scientist in cardiology, University Hospital Inselspital Berne and from 1997 at the Institute of Physiology, University of Zürich, Switzerland. In 1999, Dr. Yang had his Habilitation degree in cardiovascular physiology at the University of Zürich. He serves as an Associate Professor since 2000 at the Department of Medicine, Division of Physiology at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. Since then, Dr. Yang is actively engaged in education programs of medical and biomedical science students and continues his research on the topics of atherosclerosis, metabolic cardiovascular stress, and aging-associated cardiovascular dysfunctions.
