Theresa Winhusen, holder of the Ph.D. degree, is an Associate Professor of psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is also the Director of The Cincinnati Addiction Research Center (CinARC) and the Principal Investigator of the Ohio Valley Node of the National Institute on Drug Abuse's Clinical Trials Network. Dr. Winhusen received her Ph.D. degree in clinical psychology from Indiana University and completed her internship at the Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Winhusen has conducted extensive research to identify effective substance abuse treatments for more than 15 years with a particular emphasis on pharmacotherapies for cocaine and nicotine dependence; her work has been continuously supported through NIDA grants. She is a Member of the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD). In 2010, Dr. Winhusen was the first recipient of the NIDA Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Besteman Award, which is given for outstanding contributions to CTN's mission.
