Angela Zampella

Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, Italy

Angela Zampella was born on September 13, 1967, in Naples, Italy. She received her Laurea degree in Chemistry and pharmaceutical technology from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Naples, Italy, in 1991. Zampella has a Ph.D. degree in medicinal chemistry in the area of chemistry of natural products with biological activity from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Naples, Italy. From May 1, 1994 to October 31, 1994, she was a Researcher at Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (CNRS), France. In the period 1995-1996, she was an Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry I, Faculty of Science, University of Salerno. In 1998, she was a Researcher in organic chemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy, Naples, and since 2002, she is appointed as an Associate Professor in organic chemistry at the same faculty. Zampella’s scientific activity, which is documented by about 90 papers, is mainly focused on chemistry of marine natural products. In this frame, the research work has been devoted to bioactive macrolide and cyclopeptides from porifera with particular attention to stereochemical and synthetic problematics. More recently, the research work has been focused on the identification, biochemical decodification, total synthesis, and medicinal chemistry optimization of marine molecules as nuclear receptors modulators.
