Masafumi Gotoh

Masafumi Gotoh was born in Kumamoto, Japan, 1966. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Kurume University School of Medicine (KUSM), Japan, in 1991 and 1997, respectively. Since 1991, M.Gotoh has been with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery (DOS) at KUSM. From 1993 to 1996, he was a Research Fellow at the Tokai University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan, (orthopaedics and pathology). Presently, he is an Assistant Professor. He is mainly interested in rotator cuff disease: subacromial impingement syndrome, frozen shoulder, calcifying tendonitis, and rotator cuff tears. In 2008, he was the corecipient of the Takagishi Award (Japanese Shoulder Society). In 2010, he was the corecipient of the Best Poster Prize of Shoulder and Elbow Classification in 56th AAOS. He was nominated for the Takagishi Award in 2004 and 2009, NIRA in 54th ORS in 2008, 9th EFFORT in 2008, and Ian Kelley Prize in 11th ICSES in 2010. Dr. Gotoh is an active Member for Orthopaedic Research Society and a Member for AAOS, Japanese Orthopaedic Association, Japanese Shoulder Society, and Japanese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine.
