Georgy Astakhov

Georgy Astakhov received his undergraduate degree at the Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University in 1997 and his Ph.D. degree in physics from the Ioffe Institute, St Petersburg, Russia in 2000. He then moved to the University of Wüerzburg (Würzburg, Germany), where he worked as a Postdoc and then as a Research Fellow. Since 2011 he has been an Assistant Professor. His research interests focus on optics of condensed-matter physics including polarization and resonance spectroscopy of low-dimensional systems, spin dynamics and spin imaging, and photomagnetism in magnetic semiconductors. Astakhov is a coauthor of more than 80 papers in scientific journals.
