Maurizio Marandola was born in 1968. He graduated as a Medical Doctor from the Medical School at the Sapienza University of Rome, Rome, Italy in 1992. He finished his Postgraduate Fellowship in anesthesia and intensive care in 1996 at the same university. Between 2002 and 2006, he attended a Postgraduate Fellowship in cardiology. Since 1997, he works at the Policlinico Umberto I, a great university hospital linked to Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. During these years, he published several scientific works on national and international journals. He participated in numerous national and international conferences as abstract presenter or relator. Marandola's fields of interest include the treatment of the difficult airways, the peripheral anesthesia, the sepsis, the postoperative pain and the anesthesia in pancreatic cancer and in ear, neck, or larynx surgeries. By December 2012 he is working in the Cardiothoracic unit of Policlinico Umberto I Hospital (Sapienza University, Rome). He is an active member of the National Society of Anesthesia and Intensive Care (SIAARTI), of the European Society of Anesthesiology (ESA) and of the European and Italian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic anesthesia (EACTA/IACTA).
