Vassilis Theofilis (http://www.cfm.upm.es/people/faculty/theofilis) is a Research Professor of Fluid Mechanics and Head of the Computational Fluid Mechanics group at the School of Aerospace Engineering of the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid - UPM). He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and currently serves as an International Member on the Fluid Dynamics Technical Committee and the Flow Control Subcommittee of AIAA. He is the Coordinator of the ERCOFTAC Pilot Center "Iberia West". His research interests include flow instability, laminar-turbulent transition, theoretical flow control, computational aeroacoustics, as well as scientific computing methods in support of these fields. He currently teaches Fluid Mechanics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) at undergraduate level, Turbulence and CFD at postgraduate level, is an integral part of the Advanced Instability Methods International Postgraduate Course coordinated by the University of Cambridge, and supervises 7 full-time Ph.D. students at UPM, two of them jointly with the University of São Paulo, Brasil, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, India.
