Maria Elisa Piccone
Maria Elisa Piccone obtained her Ph.D. degree with honors in microbiology and virology from the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. The focus of her research primarily has been on molecular virology of human and animal diseases, with a majority of her work pertaining to animal infectious diseases that requires BSL-3 laboratories. Her current interests include the identification of viral virulence determinants of foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) and the elucidation of the molecular basis associated with the viral attenuation.
