Chuen-Shii Chou received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Worcester, Mass, USA, in 1990. He serves as the Chair of Department of Mechanical Engineering as well as the Director of Research Center of Solar Photo-Electricity Applications in National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) in Taiwan. He joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in National Pingtung Polytechnic Institute (NPPI), Taiwan at the end of 1990 as a Full-time Associate Professor, responsible for teaching and research in the field of granular flows. He served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Delaware, USA, during the period from 2008 to 2009. Chou contributed to over 60 SCI journal papers, and he received Outstanding Research Award, NPUST, in 2001, 2010, and 2011. Chou's experience includes the field of granular flows (such as the moving granular bed filter (MGBF) for high-temperature flue gas clean-up, rapid dry granular flows, and the system of preparing biomass solid fuel). Since 2007, he has focused on investigating the preparation and application of micro-/nanofunctional composite particles for EMI shielding, preventing fire retardant corrosion, lead-free piezoelectric ceramic, and dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC).
