Veda N. Giri
Dr. Giri joined Fox Chase in 2004 with a dual appointment in the population and medical science divisions. In this role, she conducted research on the molecular genetics of prostate cancer, risk assessment and cancer susceptibility and also served as a clinic physician for the Prostate Cancer Risk Assessment Program. She also, as an attending physician in the medical oncology department, treated patients with prostate and breast cancer, which she will continue to do. Previously, Dr. Giri was at the University of Michigan Medical Center, where she completed her residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and oncology. She was also attending physician for ambulatory-care medicine at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich. Dr. Giri has received a number of grants reflecting her commitment to research in the field of prostate cancer. She received the Mark Roth, M.D., Memorial Research Award for excellence in research during her fellowship. She also received a National Institutes of Health Training Grant and a Specialized Program of Research Excellence grant to explore the association between Agent Orange and prostate cancer. Dr. Giri is an active member of many professional organizations. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research. She is also on the editorial board of the National Cancer Institute's PDQ Cancer Genetics Services Directory. She received her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University and her M.D. from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
