James Stephen Brown qualified in dentistry at the University of Edinburgh in 1979 and in medicine at the Westminster School, London, UK, in 1985. He gained his M.S. degree in research relating to head and neck cancer in 1994. His training has brought him to Sunderland, Birmingham, and London in UK and to Malawi in Africa. He was appointed as a Consultant at Aintree and Warrington in 1992. Moreover, he is a Member of the Council of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Chairman of the Clinical Effectiveness Committee of the BAOMS. He was served as Section Editor for the oncology of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is on the Editorial Board of the International, British, and European Journals of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His primary interests reside in cancer of the head and neck, reconstruction of head and neck, and particularly tumor invasion of the mandible.
