Tomoaki Watanabe

Tomoaki Watanabe was born in Tochigi City, Japan, in 1972. He got a Research Fellowships for Young Scientists from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) (from 1999 to 2001). He received the Ph.D. degree from the Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT), Yokohama, Japan, in 2001 under the supervision of Professor Masahiro Yoshimura. From 2002 to 2005, Watanabe was an Assistant Professor of the Materials and Structures Laboratory, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Presently, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Chemistry, Meiji University, Japan. He is mainly interested in inorganic material synthesis: nitride, oxynitride, nanomaterials, photo catalyst, lithium ion battery electrode materials, ammonothermal synthesis, hydrothermal synthesis, and solvothermal synthesis. In 2007, he was a recipient of the Prizes for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Japan.
