Dimitris Goussis was born in Corfu, in 1955. He received the Diploma in mechanical engineering from the University of Patras, Greece, in 1978. He also received an M.S. and a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1982 and 1986, respectively. He holds positions at Princeton University, the University of Patras, and the Foundation for Research and Technology. He currently holds a faculty position at the National Technical University of Athens. His research has been in the areas of fluid mechanics, combustion, numerical methods, model reduction, and the development of algorithmic singular perturbation methodologies. Currently, he is mainly interested in the algorithmic asymptotic analysis of complex mathematical models in the fields of (i) reacting flow processes, (ii) systems biology, and (iii) structural systems.
