Shamsul Qamar

Shamsul Qamar got his Ph.D. degree in mathematics from the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg, Magdeburg, Germany, in 2003. In addition, he got a Habilitation degree from the same university after four years of postdoctoral teaching and research. In May 2008, he joined COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan, as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics. Overall, he has more than 9 years of postdoctoral teaching and research experience in Germany. Dr. Qamar is a renowned scientist in the field of process engineering and computational fluid dynamics. 7 Ph.D. students have completed their Ph.D. studies under his supervision and currently he is supervising 6 more Ph.D. students at COMSATS Institute. More than 19 M.S. students have completed their M.S. theses under his supervision and 5 more M.S. students are working under his supervision. He is actively engaged in research collaborations with top German institutions, namely, Max-Planck-Institute Magdeburg and University of Magdeburg. He got several awards and fellowships from different German institutions. He is a regular reviewer of famous international scientific journals. In 2007, he got a Best Paper Award of the year from Computers and Chemical Engineering Journal. Currently, he has 5 research projects from higher education commission of Pakistan. The current research interests of Dr. Qamar include modeling and simulations in computational fluid dynamics (in general), phase transitions and multiphase flows, reactive flows, population balances for particulate processes in chemical and biological engineering, chromatographic processes, and semiconductor devices.
