Rebecca Barthelmie is a Professor of atmospheric science and sustainability at Indiana University and the Ewart Farvis Chair of energy systems at the University of Edinburgh, UK. She previously held a position as a Senior Scientist in the Wind Energy Department at Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy, Denmark. Her research encompasses many aspects of wind energy and spans spatial and temporal scales from resource assessment to quantifying the behavior of wind turbine wakes, through short-term forecasting of power output and optimal wind farm siting. She is also actively researching in a number of areas of climate change including impacts on renewable energy resources and carbon foot-printing. She authored/coauthored over 80 reviewed papers and more than 200 conference papers and reports and is a member of the science and technical committees of many conferences. Moreover, she is an Editor of the Wind Energy journal and an Elected Member of the European Union Technical Platform on Wind Energy.
