GunHee Jang

Gun Hee Jang was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1961. He received the B.S. and the M.S. degrees from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Hanyang University, South Korea, and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Daejeon, South Korea, in 1984 and 1986, respectively. He worked for Korea Telecommuication from 1986 to 1989. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of California, Berkeley, Calif, USA, in 1993. He worked for Quantum Corporation in San Jose, USA, from 1993 to 1994. Then he has been a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea, since 1994. He is mainly interested in the rotor dynamics and the tribology associated with rotor dynamics. He recently focuses on the static and dynamic analysis of the coupled journal and thrust bearings, and he develops the theory and the program named HYBAP to analyze this type of bearings. In 2000, he was the recipient of National Research Laboratory Funding from Korean government. He has been an invited speaker in several international conferences and an expert witness in the patent lawsuit of US court. He has published more than 60 journal papers to international journals.
