Hua Ai

Sichuan University, China

Hua Ai, a Ph.D. degree holder, is a Professor of biomaterials at the National Engineering Research Center for Biomaterials, Sichuan University (SCU), Chengdu, China and an Adjunct Professor of radiology at West China Hospital, SCU. Dr. Ai serves for a few editorial boards including Biomaterials, Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, BioNanoScience, Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology, and International Journal of MRI. He is the Secretary General of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials. Dr. Ai is one of the Chinese representatives for the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE). Dr. Ai is focusing on the design and application of nanobiomaterials for molecular imaging and drug delivery. He developed sensitive magnetic resonance imaging probes based on superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and paramagnetic molecules. Dr. Ai is interested to solve the following problems: 1) how to visualize pathological changes at molecular and cellular levels; 2) how to amplify imaging signals based on the pathological properties such as higher receptor or enzyme expression. His work has been published on academic journals including Acc. Chem. Res., Adv Drug Deliv Rev, Biomaterials, Advanced Materials, Nano Letters, Angewandte Chemie, Journal of Controlled Release, etc. His work has been cited more than 1500 times.
