Hichem Frigui

Hichem Frigui is an Assistant Professor and
the Director of the Multimedia Research
Lab, the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
He received his Ph.D. degree in computer
engineering and computer science from the
University of Missouri, Columbia, in 1997.
From 1998 to 2004, he was an Assistant Professor
at the University of Memphis. He has
been active in the research fields of pattern
recognition, data mining, image processing,
and content-based image retrieval. He has published over 60 journal
and refereed conference articles, and has received the National
Science Foundation Career Award for outstanding young scientists.
Dr. Frigui has been active in landmine detection algorithm research
since 1998. He was a member of few teams that developed, implemented,
and field-tested several real-time algorithms for mine detection
using ground penetrating radar. Dr. Frigui is a Member of
the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, and ACM. He is currently serving
as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems,
and the International Journal of Fuzzy Systems.
