Judith U. Harrer
Judith U. Harrer grew up near Cologne, Germany, and studied medicine in Homburg (Germany), Valladolid (Spain), and Manchester (UK). She started her residency training in Manchester and returned to Germany to the RWTH Aachen University Hospital to pursue her residency training in neurology. Following two research fellowships at the Institute of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering in Manchester, she became a Lecturer at the Aachen University Medical School. In 2006, she obtained the Research Award of the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (DEGUM) with her work on sonographic assessment of brain tumor perfusion, and since 2007 she has been a tutor for neurovascular ultrasound of the DEGUM and organizer of different courses of neurosonography. Since 2009, she has been working at Caritas Medical Center Saarbrücken while continuing with her lecture and research activities in Aachen. Her major research interests are stroke and stroke imaging, neurosonography including neurovascular imaging and transcranial parenchymal imaging, as well as sonographic brain tumor imaging. Since 2010, she has been serving on the editorial board of Neurology.
