Kohichiro Tsuji

Kohichiro Tsuji was born in Nagoya, Japan, in 1953. He received the medical degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Shunshu Medical University, Japan, in 1978 and 1989, respectively. In 1995, he became an Associate Professor at the Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo, Japan. Since 2000 and 2008, he has been the Chief of Divisions of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Research Hospital and Division of Stem Cell Processing, Center for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, respectively, at the institute. In the former, he performs the research on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and hematological disorders, such as leukemia, aplastic anemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome, especially in childhood. In the latter, he performs the research for clinical application of a variety of stem cells, such as induced pluripotent stem cells, embryonic stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells, and mesenchymal stem cells.
