Juan López is a Computer Science Engineer and holds Ph.D. also in Computer Science from the Technical University of Catalonia - BarcelonaTech (Spain). Currently, he is an associate professor at the Castelldefels School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering - EETAC, where he is a member of the Intelligent Communications and Avionics for Robust Unmanned Aerial Systems (Icarus) research group. He has done pre-doctoral stages in the Advanced Learning and Research Institute (ALaRI) at the Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland), and also at the Ecole National de l'Aviation Civile (Tolousse, Francia). His research interests include middleware-based avionics architectures, communications protocols, embedded software design and unmanned aerial systems applications and their integration into the airspace.
