Akeo Shinkai
User Biography : Dr Akeo Shinkai Akeo Shinkai graduated from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1986. He received his M.S. degree from Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, in 1988 and Ph.D. degree (Doctor of Agriculture) from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan, in 1991. From 1991 to 2002, he worked for Kyowa Hakko Kogyo (present name: Kyowa Hakko Kirin) Co. Ltd. as a Research Scientist. From 1999 to 2001, he was a Visiting Scientist of the University of Washington. Since 2002, he has been working for RIKEN SPring-8 Center. His specialized field is molecular biology, and he is now studying bacterial transcriptional regulatory system and antivirus system, using extremely thermophilic bacterium Thermus thermophilus as a model organism.
