Lian-Wen Qi is an Associate Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines, China Pharmaceutical University. Dr. Qi obtained his Ph.D. degree in pharmacognosy at China Pharmaceutical University, Nanjing, China, in 2009. He continued his education as a postdoctoral scholar at the Tang Center for Herbal Medicine Research at the University of Chicago from 2009 to 2011. His research interests include new technology development in phytochemistry, discovery of novel bioactive lead components, their potential clinical applications, quality evaluation, and control of traditional Chinese medicines. Most of studied traditional Chinese medicines in his group include ginseng, ginger, and astragalus. As the Principle Investigator (PI), Dr. Qi is taking charge of 2 grants supported from the National Science Foundation of China. He has participated in several research projects supported by National Institutes of Health from USA. He has published 65 peer-reviewed articles in international journals like Natural Product Reports, Track-Trends in Analytical Chemistry, and Journal of Chromatography A. The investigation has produced two invention patents as the first inventor. Dr. Qi received the National Excellent Doctorial Dissertation Award in 2011. As a main contribution member, the applicant was awarded the First Prize of Natural Science Award of Ministry of Education of China in 2007 (ranked the third contribution order) and the Second Prize of National and Technology Progress Award of China in 2009 (ranked the fourth contribution order). He was selected as a scholar in the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of 2011.
