Ke Liu

Ke Liu received an M.S. degree from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang , China, and a Ph.D. degree from the Pharmaceutical Institute of Bonn University Bonn, Germany, in the field of isolation, structure identification, and bioactivity evaluation of pyrrolizidine alkaloids from traditional Chinese medicine. He has received many awards from the Chinese Government. Dr. Liu is an inventor of over 70 patents and has authored over 90 papers. He serves as the Vice Editor-in-Chief of Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs and Editor of Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines. Professor Liu is the President, Chief Scientific Officer, and Founder of Yantai Target Drug Research Co. Ltd. He serves as the Senior Vice President of drug discovery and development at Luye Pharmaceutical, a leading enterprise in the fields of nature drugs R&D and production in China (website: www.luye-pharm.com). In this capacity, Liu had global responsibility for multiple drug discovery programs, including the successful discovery and development of MAITONGNA (Sodium Aescinate Injection) Sodium Aescinate Tablet OLAI (Compound Sodium Aescinate Gel). Sodium Aescinate is a natural triterpene saponin from a traditional Chinese medicine, Fructus Aesculi. He founded the School of Pharmacy, Yaitai University (website: www.ytu.edu.cn) and Shandong Provincial Research Center of Natural Drugs (website: www.ndcenter.com.cn) where Liu worked as Dean and CEO and have successfully developed over 20 natural products from traditional Chinese herbs into a kind of therapeutical agent according to Chinese Pharmaceutical law. Some of them are under clinical tries in phase II or phase III.
