Jácome Bruges Armas
User Biography : Prof Jácome Bruges Armas Jácome Bruges Armas received a Licenciature in medicine from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, 1979. He was a Consultant in internal medicine up to 1989, and a Research Fellow at Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, Bath, UK, 1989-1990. He received a Ph.D. degree in medical sciences, Institute for Biomedical Sciences, Abel Salazar, University of Porto, Porto, Portugal, 2001. He was Director of oncology, Angra do Heroísmo Hospital, Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal, from 2004 to 2010, and Director of the Epidemiology and Molecular Biology Service (SEEBMO), Angra do Heroísmo Hospital, Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal, from 2005 to 2012. He was Group Director, Genetics and Arthritis Research Group (GARG), Molecular and Cell Biology Institute (IBMC), University of Porto, Porto, Portugal, from 2005 to 2012. His main research fields are epidemiology, pathogenesis, molecular biology, and clinical research of ectopic calcifications: spondyloarthritis, diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (dish), and chondrocalcinosis (cpdd-cc).
