Helen F. K. Chiu

Helen Chiu is a recipient of the M.B.B.S. degree. She is a FRCPsych, FHKAM (Psychiatry), and FHKCPsych. Chiu is a Professor of psychiatry, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is the Past President of the Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists, the Past President of the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists, and the Past President of the Hong Kong Psychogeriatric Association, as well as the Past President of the International Psychogeriatric Association. She has been Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1996 to July 2011. She is also Head of the Psychogeriatric Unit of Shatin Hospital and the Director of the Suicide Research Unit at the Department of Psychiatry, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Chiu's major research interests are in the field of dementia, epidemiology, and suicide. She was awarded a Medal of Honor by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 1999 for her work and services on dementia care. She has been awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the International Psychogeriatric Association in September 2011.
