Hideyuki Higashimura

Hideyuki Higashimura was born in Okayama, Japan, in 1962. He received the B.S. degree from the Department of Synthetic Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University, in 1985, and the M.S. degree from the Department of Synthetic Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering in 1987. He entered Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., in 1987, and studied synthesis of engineering plastics. Higashimura joined NEDO project on Precision Polymerization in AIST from 1996 to 2000, focused on regioselective oxidative polymerization of phenols, and thereby, received the D.Eng. degree from Kyoto University in 2004. At the present, he works as a Senior Research Specialist at the Advanced Materials Research Laboratory, Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., in Tsukuba. Higashimura's research interests include aromatic polymers for engineering plastics and photoelectronics, electrode catalysts for fuel cell and secondary battery, and environment-related technology.
