Naoaki Sakata works as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, Tohoku University School of Medicine, Sendai, Japan. He received his M.D. degree in 1997 and his Ph.D. degree in 2004 from Tohoku University. His specialty is islet study, especially about islet transplantation. Sakata has high interests in islet studies including encapsulated islets, imaging of the transplanted islets, angiogenesis, and mesenchymal stem cells and has over 10-year experience of experimental islet works.
