Hanqiu Sun received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology HUST, an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from University of British Columbia, and a Ph.D. degree in computer science from University of Alberta, Canada. She worked at University of Alberta/University of Winnipeg as a lecturer and later as an assistant professor, before joining the CS&E Department of CUHK. Dr. Sun has published more than hundred technical papers refereed, including MIT Journal of PRESENCE: Teleoperators and Virtual Environments, IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, Journal of Virtual Reality: Research, Development and Applications, Computers & Graphics, Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds CAVW, Computational Geometry: Theory and Applications, IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in BioMedicine, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, IEEE Journal of Computer Graphics and Applications, Journal of Visual Languages and Computing, The Visual Computer, International Journal of Image & Graphics, refereed book chapters and international conferences. She has served as Guest Editors of MIT PRESENCE and Journal of CAVW, Program Cochair of ACM VRST 2002, Organization Cochair of Pacific Graphics 2005, CGI 2006, Conference General Chair of ACM VRCIA 2006, Director of advanced workshop on VR 2007, and numerous international program committees. Her current research interests include virtual and augmented reality, interactive graphics/animation, hypermedia, computer-assisted surgery, mobile image/video processing and navigation, telemedicine, touch-enabled simulations.
