Michel Aubier received his M.D. degree from the University of Paris 7, Paris, France, in 1978. From 1978 to 1980, he was a Research Fellow at Meakins Christie Laboratories, McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada; from 1980 to 1983, he was an Assistant Professor of pneumology (University of Paris 7); in 1982, he was board certified in chest disease; from 1984 to 1987, he was a Research Associate at the National Institute of Health (Inserm); in 1988, he was a Professor of pneumology at the University of Paris 7; from 1994 to 2005, he was the Director of the National Institute of Health (Inserm Unit 408); since 2001, he has been the Director of the Clinical Investigation Center 007, Inserm/Bichat Hospital; since 2005, he has been a Coteam Leader (team 2) of Inserm U 700. Moreover, he was a Resident from 1973 to 1978; a Chief Resident, Beaujon University Hospital, Paris, from 1980 to 1983; the Head of the Pneumology Department, Bichat University Hospital, Paris, since 1988; and the Director of the Clinical Investigation Center 007, Inserm/Bichat Hospital, since 2001. In addition, Aubier received the Award of the Pharmaceutical Industry Foundation in 1979, Award of the French Foundation for Medical Research in 1983, Valpan Award of Pneumology in 1985, Manuel Albertal Award of the American College of Chest Physician 4th World in 1989, Congress of Chest Disease, Boston, USA; Shubin Memorial Lecture Award, Society of Critical Care Medicine, New York, USA, in 1993; and the Environment Health Award, French Academy of Medicine, in 2001. His research fields include asthma and COPD. He is a Referee for the following leading medical journals: American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, American Journal of Physiology (Lung Cell Molocular Physiology), Journal of Applied Physiology, European Respiratory Journal, Chest, Critical Care Medicine, British Medical Journal, Allergy, and The Lancet. He is also a Reveiewer for Wellcome Trust, NIH, and BMC. Aubier is an author of 227 articles in peer-reviewed journals and of 40 reviews.
