Cecilia Gerber

Cecilia Gerber is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a Member of the DØ and CMS collaborations. She received the Ph.D. degree in 1995 from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her thesis was the measurement of the W and Z boson production cross-section in the muon channel using data from the first run of the DØ detector. As a Fermilab Postdoctor (1995–2000), she led the DØ physics group that studied the properties of W and Z bosons when production is associated with jets. She also worked on the R&D for the first DØ silicon tracker and was responsible for the testing and quality assurance of the silicon modules during construction. As a faculty member at UIC, since 2000, she served as convener of the top quark physics group at DØ, and in the management structure for the DØ Run IIb upgrade. She was one of 4 co-PIs for an MRI grant from NSF that funded the construction of the DØ silicon layer 0 detector, and recipient of an NSF CAREER award. She joined CMS in the year 2000 and has contributed to the construction of the CMS silicon tracker outer barrel detector. She also served as convener of the top/ew group of the TeV4LHC workshop, Member of the LPC Advisory Committee, and as LPC btagging group Coleader. She was recently elected to the DPF executive committee for the 2007–2010 term.
