Carlos Nelson Elias

Carlos Nelson Elias graduated in metallurgy from the Military Institute of Engineering (Instituto Militar de Engenharia (IME)), Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil, in 1981 and obtained his M.A. and Doctorate degrees in 1986 and 1989, respectively, in materials science from the same institute. He currently works as an Associate Professor at IME; has been twice selected as Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro (2004 and 2008); is a Researcher at the Research Foundation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ), Brazil; and serves as a Researcher in pouchitis at the National Council of Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), Brazil. He has experience in the area of materials and metallurgical engineering, with emphasis on physical metallurgy, working on the following themes: coronary stents, dental materials, development of dental implants, surface modification of dental implants, instruments for endodontics, orthodontics, coloring titanium, and the simulation. He has a patent application at INPI PI0602093-3 related to the surface treatment of implants. Elias has published 185 articles in scientific journals, one book, 17 book chapters, 230 papers presented in national and international congresses, 36 guidelines, and 14 doctorates.
