Jerry Eichler received his B.S. degree (1982) in physiology from McGill University in Montreal, QC, Canada, the city of his birth. His M.S. (1988) and Ph.D. (1994) degrees were awarded by the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, for research conducted at the Department of Neurobiology. His postdoctoral training in the field of bacterial protein secretion was carried out at the Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH, USA. Since 1998, he has been a member of the Department of Life Sciences at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Beersheva, Israel, having been appointed to the rank of Professor in 2008. He works at the Eichler laboratory addressing various protein processing events in archaea, in particular, glycosylation.
