Takatoshi Kasai works as a Cardiologist and as a Physician-Scientist. He obtained his M.D. degree from the Juntendo University in 1998 after which he completed specialty training in cardiology. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2006 from the Juntendo University, majoring in cardiovascular medicine. He is mainly interested in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, especially of coronary artery disease and heart failure. Presently, he is investigating the impact of sleep apnea in patients with heart failure. He served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Cardiology in the Juntendo University and as a Staff Physician in the Sleep Center of Toranomon Hospital both in Tokyo, Japan, from 2006 to 2008. Since 2009, he is pursuing a research fellowship at the Center for Sleep Health and Research at the Toronto General Hospital and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Sleep Research Laboratory.
