David Sémeril originates from Brittany. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in organometallic chemistry and catalysis in 2001 with Doctor C. Bruneau and Professor P. H. Dixneuf at the University of Rennes. He joined, for a 2-year postdoctoral stay, the research team first of Professor F. Ciardelli (University of Pisa, Italy) and then of Doctor C. Bianchini (CNR of Firenze, Italy). Since 2003, he holds a position of Chargé de Recherche with the CNRS at the University of Strasbourg (France). His research activities include the study of strained chelators, the development of transition metal-catalyzed carbon-carbon forming reactions as well as the synthesis of cavity-shaped ligands.
