Reet Kurg serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Center of Biomedical Technology, Institute of Technology, the University of Tartu, Tartu, Estonia. She received a B.S. degree in biochemistry and Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, in 1988 and 2000, respectively. Her research is focused on molecular biology of papillomaviruses, particularly on papillomavirus-host interactions. Kurg characterized in detail the different forms of the viral E2 protein, the main regulator of viral replication, transcription and segregation, and the E2 binding sites and their functional relevance in the human genome. She is also interested in molecular basis of Williams-Beuren Syndrome, especially the role of methyltransferases in development of syndrome.
