Tamara Garcia Barrera was born in Carmona (Seville, Spain) and obtained her B.S. degree from the University of Huelva, Huelva, Spain, in 2001. She received her Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Huelva in 2005 where she is currently an Associate Professor (2009). Her research interests are focused on environmental studies as speciation of elements (Hg/Se, As/Hg) and metallomics. Her expertise includes liquid and gas chromatography, atomic spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and sample treatment (PLE, SPME, pervaporation, and membrane-based techniques). She has been distinguished with several awards including the Award for Young Researchers from the Andalusian Autonomous Government.
