Paola Paradies graduated in 1997 at Bari University, Italy, with a degree in veterinary medicine. Since then she has been working as an effective Research Group Member in the Internal Medicine Unit of Bari University. In her work, she contributes to the scientific research, teaching activities, and clinical/diagnostic services. She took her Ph.D. degree in 2001 working on cattle babesiosis at the Internal Medicine Unit of the Veterinary Faculty and worked as Postdoc at the Parasitology and Parasitic Disease Unit of the Veterinary Faculty in 2003–2005. She started working as Researcher (current position) in 2005 at the Internal Medicine Unit. She recently (examination passed in 2012) became a European Veterinary Parasitology College Diplomate (EVPC). Her research activity focuses on the study of protozoa diseases of pets, and in particular she has conducted studies on several aspects of canine leishmaniasis and on treatment of canine vector born diseases and feline cardiopulmonary parasitic diseases. She is also involved in an ongoing study on obesity and metabolic syndrome in dogs.
