Ansgar Klebes

Ansgar Klebes currently works at the Biology Department, Humboldt University, Berlin. Dr. Klebes graduated from the University of Cologne, Germany, in 1995. He obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf in 1999. For his postdoctoral research he joined the Lab of Professor Thomas Kornberg, University of California, San Francisco from 2000 to 2004. In 2004 he was appointed Junior Professor at the Biology Department, Freie Universität Berlin. His main research interests are in the genetics and epigenetics of Drosophila development. He investigates the molecular basis of cellular determination by exploiting the genetically traceable model system of Drosophila imaginal disc transdetermination. His current research focuses on the function of the epigenetic regulators of the Polycomb group in development.
