Giovambattista Ianni

Giovambattista Ianni works as an Assistant Professor in computer science (scientific sector code: INF/01) at the Department of Mathematics of University of Calabria since 2002 and is waiting to be called in service for the position of Associate Professor. He received an M.S. degree in computer science engineering in 1998 and a Ph.D. degree in systems and computer science engineering in 2002. Currently, he is a teacher of the courses of "Computer Networks and Operating Systems" and "Computer Networks Security" within the curriculum in Computer Science at University of Calabria. He is currently responsible for the design and implementation of some linguistic extensions of the DLV system, one of the most prominent answer set programming systems. From 2004 to 2006, he has been a Visiting Researcher at the Vienna University of Technology, within the Institute for Information Systems, which he still collaborates with. He chaired the organizing committee of JELIA 2002 (and Editor of the proceedings volume) and LPNMR 2005. He is and has been Track Chair and/or Member of many conference program committees such as IJCAI, ECAI, ISWC, ESWC, RuleML, ASWC, LPNMR, NMR, AGP, ESTC, and ICIW. As a scientific author, he published many papers in journals and international conferences such as Artificial Intelligence, ACM TOCL, IJCAI, and PODS. It is worth noting that some of his scientific works have been conferred the best paper award (ESWC 2006, ASP 2003). Ianni is currently interested in semantic web, knowledge representation and logic programming. He has been General Project Manager of the international EU-funded project INFOMIX and has many past and current involvements in national and international projects.
