Hyunsu Bae has been a Professor at the Department of Oriental Medicine, Kyung Hee University, Seoul, The Republic of Korea, since 1999. He received his M.D. degree (specialized in oriental medicine) from Kyung Hee University in 1989, and Ph.D. degree from College of Medicine, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA, in 1996. He continued his academic carriers in Institute of Neuroscience, Northwestern University, Chicago, USA, and Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases, Harvard University, Cambridge, USA, until 1999. His main research fields include the mechanism and function of herbal medicines on immunological disorders, the modulation of helper T cell development by herbal medicine and acupuncture, and the communication between immune and neuronal system and its modulation by complementary medicine.
